Automatic Voltage Regulator
The AVR Line Voltage Regulator is a critical device for improving power quality. It automatically adjusts the transformation ratio by tracking line voltage fluctuations, ensuring stable output voltage. Capable of automatic voltage regulation within a ±20% input range, it is particularly suitable for lines with significant voltage variations or large voltage drops. When installed in series on the mid-to-rear sections of 6kV, 10kV, or 35kV lines, it regulates line voltage within a defined range, guaranteeing stable supply voltage for end-users while reducing line losses. Additionally, for substations lacking transformer voltage regulation capability, installing this regulator on the transformer outlet side effectively stabilizes busbar voltage. It is widely used in rural/urban grids, oil fields, coal mining, chemical plants, and substations nationwide.
Working Principle
The AVR Line Voltage Regulator comprises three main components: an autotransformer, an on-load tap changer (OLTC), and an automatic controller.
- Autotransformer: The winding consists of a series winding, common winding, and control winding. The series winding features multiple taps connected to different OLTC contacts; adjusting tap positions alters the transformation ratio for voltage regulation. The common winding transfers energy via magnetic fields. The control winding supplies power and sampling signals to the controller.
- On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC): Switches contacts under load. In automatic mode, it adjusts the transformer ratio by shifting contacts connected to the series winding taps, thereby modifying output voltage. Common OLTC configurations include 7, 9, or more taps to balance lifespan and voltage regulation precision.
- Automatic Controller: The core unit includes an industrial-grade microcontroller, display circuit, keypad, voltage/current sampling, status input, communication ports, control output, and data storage. It samples voltage signals (P0-P1-P2) and current signals (C1-C2), comparing them with preset values:
Exceeds upper limit → Commands OLTC to raise tap.
Falls below lower limit → Commands OLTC to lower tap.
