Oil immersed distribution transformer with conservator

This type of oil immersed distribution transformer is equipped with conservator which mounted above the main tank.
This is not hermetic type transformer, so the transformer oil is always in contact with the air. The main function of the transformer oil conservation is to prevent the transformer oil in the oil tank from contacting with the air, so as to avoid the oxidation and deterioration , water infiltration and reducing the insulation dissipation.. Due to the difficult sealing of large transformer, when the transformer oil expands with heat and shrinks with cold, there must be water in the oil tank. After installing the oil gasket, when the oil is heated and expanded, part of the oil will enter the conservator, and when the oil is cooled, part of the oil will return to the tank, so as to avoid large area contact between the insulating oil and the air and reduce oxidation and water infiltration.

When the volume of transformer oil expands or shrinks with the temperature of oil, the conservator plays the role of oil storage or oil replenishment to ensure that the oil tank is full of oil. At the same time, it also reduces the contact area between oil and air and reduces the deterioration speed of oil. Its side is also equipped with an oil standard tube (ferromagnetic oil level gauge) to monitor the oil level change. The volume of the transformer oil is about 1 / 10 of the volume of the transformer oil, which is based on the standard that it can be seen when the transformer is stopped in winter and does not overflow when the maximum load is in summer. The indicated value of the ferromagnetic oil level gauge shall correspond to the temperature oil level curve on the transformer body.

There are two types of conservator (conservator) of transformer: main body (oil tank) and tap changer (conservator). It is required that the oil level of the main body is slightly higher than the tapping oil level to prevent the oil of the tapping oil tank from infiltrating into the main body oil tank and affecting the insulation of the oil tank of the transformer main body. Because the oil in the tap tank has arc extinguishing effect, the oil deteriorates quickly and there are many impurities. The function of tap changer oil filter is to automatically filter oil once after each action and pressure regulation of on load tap changer.
